Taylor Tots Nursery offers an exceptional learning experience for children aged from one month to five years. Situated in the rural location of Dunston Penkridge our provision is something truly unique.

The nursery features five spacious rooms over two floors with natural furnishings and carefully selected resources. The calming environment offers children an exclusive space to flourish and develop into confident, creative, and curious learners. Complementing this is our incredible outdoor garden giving children the chance to learn and explore the outdoor environment through active play and discovery, and the surrounding fields which we have access to direct from our garden area via a gate.

Our committed, experienced, and highly qualified nursery team actively encourages children in their play and exploration, supporting their natural curiosity and thirst for learning. Our dedicated practitioners tune in to the individual learning needs and interests of your child, ensuring that they are fully supported to reach their full potential, understanding that every child is unique in their quest for learning and development.

Backstory

The story of Taylor’s tots begins when Sharon Taylor, the nursery owner and director, was on maternity leave whilst working for West Midlands police. At the time she had a seven month old daughter and was planning on her return to work, but only to be stopped by one major factor. Childcare.

Sharon had scoured the area for miles for a suitable nursery to place her daughter in, but she felt no nursery she had visited met her expectations, and she was not prepared to leave her daughter in just “any nursery “ Sharon felt that there was a lack of choice, and nowhere gave her a sense of warmth and utter security in knowing her daughter had a home from home caring and nurturing environment, as well as a clean hygienic space.

From her disappointment in finding no place suitable to leave her daughter, Sharon made a rather dramatic decision, she left the police force started her childcare degree and made it her mission to create an all encompassing private day care nursery that would give mothers and families relief in knowing their most precious children, would not only be looked after to the highest level, but create a place for young individuals to flourish and become intensely enriched with love, empathy, knowledge and life skills.

Fast forward 23 years and Sharon has perfected her practice, whilst working alongside her daughter, Meg, who it all started with, who is now the deputy manager and takes on all the ethics and knowledge she’s learnt from her mother over the years. We now have a beautiful private family run day nursery, set in the rolling fields of Penkridge, Staffordshire, which offers a wide range of opportunities and choices for our local community, and their families.

The Dunston setting is a beautiful 1830’s manor house with 360 countryside views, an extensive walled garden with soft flooring and an outdoor classroom. We also have a variety of quality resources for all age groups.

Child Initiated Play

We pride ourselves on providing your little one with fun development opportunities to foster their own unique learning path. From sensory areas to construction sites, indoor gardening to climbing, reading areas and logic adventures, there is never a shortage of fun things to do.

Drop-off

Morning drop-offs can be difficult, especially when your child is new to nursery. Your child will be greeted by their key carer with open arms every day so you can rest assured they’re in good hands. Following this, your little one will then enjoy a healthy breakfast just before starting their day.

Healthy Meal Time

The right nutrition is vital to raising a healthy and happy child. Our chef prepares freshly cooked food at every mealtime and can cater to any dietary needs. We organise regular cooking classes to inspire the children to learn about healthy eating habits, fresh ingredients and multicultural food.

Lessons in Self-care

We teach all of our children the importance of self-care, both mentally and physically. From washing their hands, brushing their teeth, carrying out toilet routines and ‘winding down’ sessions, our lessons in self-care enhance their confidence and independence.

Sleep and Relaxation

Regular sleep is essential to improve your child’s attention span, memory, learning abilities and their overall mental and physical health. Containing soft mats, our dedicated sleep rooms are designed for relaxing. If your child no longer requires sleep during the day, there will be a dedicated area for them to play in.

Physical Health

Physical health is vital and we ensure our children spend a large chunk of their day outdoors interacting with nature. From playing outdoors to exploring the nearby surroundings of the countryside on forest walks, we ensure they learn about the environment and community they are growing up in.

Starting Nursery

Being in unfamiliar surroundings with unknown people can feel overwhelming and can lead to feelings of anxiety. This is why we have a settling in process to help you and your little one feel more comfortable, whilst settling in over a period of weeks.
We want your child to develop secure attachments with key members of staff, prior to starting with us. And we want you, the parents to feel happy and confident when dropping off.
